Sennen Storms

Here is a couple of dark and brooding stormy seascapes taken from Sennen cove looking towards Cape Cornwall. These were done rapidly and with palette knife. I am very pleased with the colours I have achieved, especially in the cloudy skies.

I have recently found my stride producing a series of little landscapes in acrylic. Using a mixture of brush work and palette knife I am finding new ways of expressing the landscape through paint.
I have also recently got hold of some framing equipment which is rather exciting so I will hopefully be able to make some white box frames for these landscapes and take them into local galleries to show.

This is my first use of a palette knife in years, it was an experiment as I wasn't even sure it would work with acrylics. However it has turned out well and I will be using the knife a lot more now in my landscapes. I feel the sea is captured a lot more effectively with the knife.

My second go at the palette knife, detail like the fields was done with brush work. I like this combination of tools

"Summer In St.Hilary" acrylic on canvas 12"x32" 2014

This was finished months ago but I've only just got around uploading it. Really pleased with the colours, especially the pale greens of the central field
